Do You Hear My Spirit? by Brenda Calderon
Danielle Rueb - Castillejo
Do You Hear My Spirit?
Like a bird?
Do you hear my spirit?
Like a bird trapped in a room?
Do you hear my spirit?
A bird trapped in a room that has forgotten
Where
It
came from?
Agitated
Tired
Do you hear my spirit?
The anxious flutter of my wings?
The persistent rustling
And clamoring
Looking for a way back to freedom
Do you hear my spirit?
How my wings slump tired
Agitated
Exhausted
Looking for a place to rest
Do you hear my spirit?
Or do you hear the silence?
And bask in the victory
Of my defeat?
